Over the span of many decades, the Volkswagen Jetta has led the way for the compact sedan segment, with its impressive balance of pleasing driving characteristics, reliability, value, and efficiency. The latest incarnation of the compact sedan — the resigned 2019 Jetta — boasts a sleek new look, a larger size, and new premium features.
Fuel Economy of 2019 Volkswagen Jetta
Despite its larger size, the 2019 VW Jetta still delivers excellent fuel economy with its 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI engine, with estimated efficiency ratings of 30 city/40 highway/34 combined mpg.
The engine is mated to either the six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed automatic, which has two more gears than the 2018 Jetta. Also, 2019 Jetta models that are equipped with the automatic transmission have a Start/Stop System, which temporality shuts off the engine when idling, helping to improve fuel economy, especially in the start and stop driving conditions of city traffic. The engine of the Jetta not only delivers high-level efficiency but excellent performance as well, with an output of 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
